CAT MINISTRY

CAT ministry started about 30 years ago, when Ms. Clara Pendley joined Dorsett Shoals.

The CATS are handmade dolls. These are an assembly line project. Pattern is drawn and cut out at the meetings. It is then given to persons that embroider the faces. Next step is handed to those that sew on tags ( giving name address and phone number of D.S.B.C. with "Jesus Loves You") . That person then sews around the CAT leaving an opening for the stuffing. The CAT is then ready to be clipped and turned. Next it is stuffed, side seam sewed with blind stitch. At the meeting they will be dressed. For new born baby girls and boys they are dressed in pastels, for Well Star hospital ER, Pregnancy Resource Center Medical, and Prayer (these have book marks with appropriate Scripture tied onto the strap ) they are dressed in gingham. When there are special holidays they are dressed in special outfits for the season.

These have been given to First Responders, Ga. Baptist children's home, Samaritan shoe boxes, cancer patient in Hawaii, they have gone on mission trips. Our main focus now is Well Star hospital, Pregnancy Resource Center Medical, New born in our church family and seriously ill members.

We average about 30 CATS a month.
We have 19 members.

We meet the second Tuesday of every month in the fellowship hall at the church at 10:00 am. Those that want to, go together, out to eat after the meeting.
